Different from conventional working conditions in spring and autumn, summer construction features five major characteristics: high ambient temperature, large day-night temperature difference, heavy construction site dust, frequent short-term rainfall and longer continuous equipment operation hours. According to the after-sales operation and maintenance big data of Luoyang Lutong, road roller failures from June to August account for far more proportion than other periods all year round. Operators shall regularly open the diesel water drain valve to drain accumulated water in fuel tanks, preventing fuel injector stalling and insufficient power caused by high-temperature water vapor mixed into fuel. In addition, qualified antifreeze fluid must be filled instead of clean water to avoid scale formation and pipeline corrosion inside water tanks.
2. Hydraulic Transmission System: Prevent Leakage and Control Oil Temperature to Ensure Stable Compaction Accuracy
High temperature will accelerate the viscosity attenuation of hydraulic oil, easily causing pipeline oil leakage, weak vibration and steering jamming. The summer maintenance rules clarify that Lutong road rollers shall clean gearboxes and replace original high-temperature resistant gear oil every quarter. Maintenance personnel shall inspect aging hydraulic pipe joints and gaskets comprehensively, and replace high-temperature special sealing parts. The alarm threshold of hydraulic oil temperature is set at 85℃, and equipment must stop operation for heat dissipation once the temperature exceeds the standard. The hydraulic oil tank shall be cleaned to remove internal sediment every half year, and original summer anti-wear hydraulic oil shall be adopted. Mixed use of hydraulic oil of different brands is forbidden to avoid high-temperature emulsification and deterioration of oil products, so as to stabilize drum vibration frequency and traveling speed and meet high-standard compaction requirements of asphalt pavements.
3. Traveling & Vibration System: High-temperature Lubrication to Resist Rainwater Corrosion and Wear
Muddy construction sites in rainy summer days lead to water ingress, rust and grease failure of vibration drums, articulated bearings and transmission shafts. Luoyang Lutong after-sales specifications require that for high-frequency operating equipment, 20g high-temperature blue lithium-based grease shall be injected into vibration bearings every 7 days, and 10g special lubricating grease shall be injected into articulated bearings. Operators shall fasten bolts of engine mounting brackets, transmission shafts and drum fixing parts weekly and calibrate bolt torque error. After rainfall, staff shall prioritize inspecting the sealing performance of vibration drums, replace damaged oil seals timely and drain accumulated water inside drums to avoid jamming and rust of internal bearings. For tire road rollers, tire pressure shall be checked regularly to prevent tire burst caused by excessive pressure under sun exposure.
4. Electrical Safety System: Moisture-proof and Anti-oxidation to Avoid Circuit Failures in Rainy Seasons
High temperature and humidity easily cause oxidation and short circuit of storage batteries and circuit connectors. The maintenance scheme requires keeping the battery voltage above 12V daily, polishing oxidized battery terminals, applying protective grease and fastening wiring terminals. High-pressure water guns are prohibited to directly flush electric control boxes, sensors and circuit plugs, and electrical interfaces shall be dried in time after rainy operation. Aging and damaged outer circuit sheaths shall be fully inspected and insulated to prevent short circuit and fire caused by circuit baking by high-temperature equipment body.
